Day 34: Lakes Regional Park

Today we visited Lakes Regional Park in Ft. Myers.  It's about 20 minutes from the house in Cape Coral.  I found the park while researching family friendly things to do near Ft. Myers.  It was such an awesome find! There is no way you could do all the activities that are offered at the park in just one day so we'll definitely have to go back again when we are down at the house.  We decided that the thing the boys would like the most was the miniature train that we could all ride.  It was such a cute little train and so fun for everyone! The park also had this awesome (and fully handicapped accessible) playground that the boys enjoyed.  We ate a packed lunch at nearby picnic tables and spotted this squirrel, who was very eager to have some free lunch!  Hannah and Mick fed him right out of their hands!  The boys figured out that he wanted to be fed and were eager to throw their goldfish at him.  Like they'd even consider sharing with one of us...but a squirrel...sure!

Unfortunately we had to cut our time at the park short because Peter had to catch a plane back to Cincinnati to work for a few days.  It will be the first time he has been away from them for longer than 36 hours.  I have never been away from them for longer.  I know we'll do fine here without him but I do know that we will miss him.  Luckily he'll be flying back into Orlando on Wednesday and meeting us at Disney World.
This evening, Uncle Norb and Aunt Vicki, who live in Florida year round, came for a visit.  They haven't seen the boys in a while and they really enjoyed spending time with them.  They even brought them M & Ms for a special treat after dinner.   Aunt Vicki seemed to take a liking to both boys and their presence seemed to make her happy and more comfortable.
